Step 5: Action

Building Your Momentum

Finally, right?

I know it’s taken a while to get here; but, trust me, without the foundation we’ve laid in the first four steps your chances at success are slim (at best). However, if you’ve taken the first four steps seriously, you’re already well on your way to achieving your goal!

So, where do we start when it comes to taking action toward our dreams?

We start small. Yep, baby steps.

The truth is, our lives didn’t get where they are today overnight. Where we are is the result of small decisions made over long periods of time.

This means changing our lives will require us to build better habits and beliefs that will lead us in the direction we want to go.

You see, most people fail to reach their goals because they only focus on changing their behaviors. They don’t take time to adjust their mindset.

That’s where you’re different. By completing the previous steps, you’ve already done some of the most important work when it comes to reaching your goal.

Our behaviors naturally flow out of our beliefs. So, by changing the way you see yourself (and your future), your actions will begin to change automatically.

So, take another look at your anchor image:

  • Where are you at?

  • What are you doing?

  • Who are you with?

Now ask this question: What steps can I start taking today that will get me there?

Remember to use your image like a compass. Use it as a way to gauge to see whether your decisions are moving you closer to (or further from) your goal.

By taking these consistent steps toward your goal, you maintain your focus and generate enthusiasm for your desired future.

Plus, as you focus your mind, will and imagination on your goal, you’ll begin to notice opportunities you might not have seen before.

Taking advantage of these opportunities opens the door to quantum leaps in progress toward the future you desire.

Now, let’s put this lesson into action:

Steps I Can Start Taking Today:

1.                                                               .

2.                                                               .

3.                                                               .

Don’t overthink this exercise. Just pick a few activities you can start doing today that’ll take you in the right direction.

You may also want to target behaviors that are keeping you from reaching your goal and cut those out of your routine.

Share these activities with your accountability partner, so they can make sure you’re following through with your commitments.
